Ma’atuk, Saleh-Zadok

Son of Ovadia and Naima. He was born in Jerusalem in 1951. He was an active member of the “Remez” club in Jerusalem and was active in sports, and was a member of the “Beit-Ya’akov” R. His brother, Nissim, fell in the Six-Day War. This fact left his heavy impression on him and as he drew closer to his enlistment, he longed to enlist and avenge his brother’s blood. He wanted to volunteer for a combat unit and serve in the paratroopers, but to his disappointment his family refused to agree. He was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-February 1969 and served in the Engineering Corps, and after his discharge he was called up for reserve duty on February 2, 1970. He was taken to the military cemetery on Mt. Herzl in Jerusalem and was buried next to his brother, Nissim.
