Luzinski, Shabtai


Son of Batya and Yoel. He was born on 28.2.1896 in Bobruisk, Russia, the youngest son of his parents. As a child he was weak in body and especially suffered from headaches, so he studied at home with private tutors. At home he received a religious education. He was caught up in Zionism and he was a member of Tzeirei Zion. In early 1918 he participated in the “Hechalutz” conference in Bobruisk and was the initiator and activist in the establishment of the Bobruysk Group, which prepared itself for physical work in preparation for immigration to Eretz Israel. At a young age he married and during the 1920 war between the Poles and the Bolsheviks, the couple went with their baby to Palestine and arrived there that year. He was one of the founders of Achva, one of the first known contracting groups in Israel, to infiltrate Jews into the construction industry as a transit station on the way to settlement. He was also one of the organizers of the United Kibbutzim Group, in which he was a treasurer, as one of his friends testified: “We will love everyone for his integrity, his face and his heartfelt and fair attitude to each member, his sincerity, his frankness, his simplicity and his nobility and nobility. And with a smile on his lips, in his good spirit and with his deep optimism that he did not leave. ” A protocol that was preserved from the conference of the builders’ group indicates that Shabtai was also gifted with a practical and visionary ability. This group was one of the seeds that produced Solel Boneh, which later became its permanent member. In 1923, together with some of his friends from the group, he went to Qalandiya, Atarot, a small and isolated settlement, with little water and land. He brought his wife and three children there, and began to build his farm in conditions of distress and hardship. At the same time, he took upon himself all the problems of Atarot, and especially devoted himself to youth and education. At the events of 1936, the danger to the continuation of the Hebrew construction, which was supplied with stone material, came from the Arabs: Shabtai was called to lay the foundation for the stone company ESon of, which was designed to produce stone and gravel by Jewish quarrels, and he also managed the company steadily.. In October 1945 he arrived illegally in Italy and was registered as a refugee by the name of Shimon Miruchner, who was immediately given the task of establishing and concentrating the “Haoved” movement, which was designed to train She’erith Hapleitah to work in Eretz Yisrael, and was a member of the “Center for the Diaspora” and was involved in the organization of immigrants and their transportation to the seaport; all accepted his authority and his decisions. His funeral took place in Rome and was attended by more than two thousand people who cherished his name. He left a wife, two sons and two daughters. In January 1948 his coffin was brought to Eretz Israel and buried in the land of his village, Moshav Atarot.
