Lupu, Haim-Ze’ev (Carol)


Son of Avraham and Chana, was born on February 18, 1935 in Iasi, Romania. Karol finished elementary school in his hometown and began working in a hardware store in his town. In 1947 he immigrated to Israel with his wife and two daughters, and settled in Be’er Sheva. In 1976, he moved with his family to live in Kiryat Ata. Karol enlisted in reserve duty in November 1974. He earned his living as a soldier in the Soltam factory in November 1981. In November 1981, Karol was called up for reserve duty for security at a military camp near Kordani. On the night of 14 Cheshvan 5742 (14.11.1981) When he was on the watchtower with his weapon, he was killed by a bullet fired from his rifle, and he was 46 years old when he died, and his unit commander wrote to his family: “Karol was a quiet and disciplined soldier. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa. Carol left behind a wife, two daughters and two sisters.
