Ludin, Shraga


Son of Perel and Yona, was born in 1926 in the workers’ neighborhood near the “Yarkon” Hospital. Shraga took part in the activities of “Wingate Night” and the immigration of illegal immigrants. With the outbreak of the War of Independence he enlisted immediately even though he was a lung patient from his childhood, it was his deep conviction and desire that brought him to the battlefield. He moved to the front of Jerusalem, and participated in the defense of Hartuv, in the Nachshon operations, and later moved to serve in the Givati ​​Brigade and was one of the Shimshon Foxes. Shraga participated in many battles despite being released from them for reasons of health. In preparation for the resumption of the fighting at the end of the first truce, the “An-Peer” operation was planned to break through the Negev. The Egyptians however, violated the truce and attacked on the night of July 7-8, 1948, Our forces attacked and the Givati ​​forces occupied the Ibdis outpost, northeast of the Negev. In the following days, the Egyptians carried out repeated heavy attacks on the outpost and Givati ​​fighters, with stubborn defense, repulsed the attacks. In these battles, Shraga fell on the day of the 2nd of Tammuz 5708 (9.7.1948).
