Lubton, Jacob


Ben Yechiel and Robida. He was born on Sunday, 11.5.1956, in Moshav Rantia, Yaakov was drafted into the IDF in May 1974 and placed in the Artillery Corps. He completed his basic training successfully and was sent to an artillery course. During his brief stay in the course, his commanders were able to understand his easy nature and obedience, and saw him as a model soldier and an excellent gunner for the future. He had close ties with his classmates and was loved by everyone. On the 19th of Menachem Av 5734 (7.8.1974) Yaakov fell while serving in the Sinai. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Petah Tikva cemetery. Survived by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Your son served in the unit for a short period of time, but nevertheless managed to be liked by his friends. His family donated a lit box in memory of the synagogue in Rantia.
