Lubaton, Yehuda (Hamis)
Son of Chaya (Vida) and Michael (Machluf). He was born in 1897 in Zichron Yaakov. After his three older brothers died of diptheria, his parents added to his name, the name Hamis, as a talisman for longevity. Yehuda attended elementary school in the village and helped his father manage his cloth shop. He was a tall, sturdy boy, careful about his clothes and was the first among his contemporaries. Yehudah liked to help a friend and respect others. At the beginning of 1918, Yehudah and his father were drafted into the army. They arrived as far as Damascus, where the father was released, because of his age, while Yehudah continued on his path and his traces have not been known to this day. He left parents, brother and sister. In the cemetery in Zichron Yaakov, his sister erected a monument in his memory. This fallen hero is a “maklan” – a hero whose burial place is unknown.
