London, Yosef Aryeh

Yosef Aryeh London, son of Batsheva and David, was born in Jerusalem in 1931. He was a member of Hanoar Haoved, a serious and responsible youth who aspired to know and to follow the path of realization. At the outbreak of the War of Independence, he joined one of the Palmach battalions and went to the Upper Galilee, where he fell in battle in the region of Ayelet Hashahar. He was accompanied by a convoy to Amir on April 13, 1948, buried in Kfar Giladi. According to his commander, Aryeh found courage in his last battle and did not abandon the campaign until the last moments of his life, defending the vital transportation for the existence of isolated communities in the Galilee. He was transferred to the eternal military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
