Loft, Tzvika

Tzvika, son of Thelma and Eli Loft, named after his grandfather, Zvi Loft, one of the founders of the insurance company “Hessna”. Brother to Uri, Peleg and Hagai. Born on 27.5.1964 in Kibbutz Rosh Hanikra in the Western Galilee, on the border of Lebanon, where he grew up and was educated. On October 30, 1983, Zvika was assigned to an Air Force pilot course, and in 1986 he completed a combat helicopter course. Zvika was supposed to begin his position as director of the Israel Defense Forces a few days after his death, to be released from the army within a year, but the Second Lebanon War put an end to everything. On July 24, 2006, during an operational activity on the northern border, a “technical plane” (“Apache-Longbow”) helicopter that Zvika flew crashed due to a technical malfunction. Captain Tam Farkash, the pilot next to him, was also killed. Tzvika, who was forty-two years old when he died, was laid to rest in the cemetery in Moshav Hageleh.
