Loewenberg, Zvi

Son of Herman was born on January 6, 1924 in Berlin, the capital of Germany. After graduating from elementary school he went to training in Denmark. In 1941 he immigrated with his group to Israel and moved to son of Shemen. He spent two years there, specializing in plantations, out of recognition of the need for this industry in Israel. From son of Shemen he moved to the Kfar Hahoresh group and to the work battalion in Hadera. When the group moved to the settlement in Gezer, he was assigned to manage the plantation and garden sector and to participate in the economic committee. Zvi devoted all his energies to establishing a thriving agriculture and marveled at his dedication. He knew the agriculture in all its varieties and also demanded dedication and creativity. With all his devotion to the group, he lived a lonely life, and his great ambition for continuing education was not satisfied until his dying day. Carrot was located next to the Ramle-Latrun road, and the Legion forces in the area saw it as a threat and asked it to be taken in preparation for the approaching truce. On Tuesday, June 10, 1948, an enemy force, consisting of a Legion Company, organized irregular forces and armored vehicles, attacked the kibbutz, and the enemy’s heavy fire destroyed the defensive posts and paralyzed any possibility of organized resistance. He fell in this battle on Tuesday, June 10, 1948, and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Gezer.
