Livingston, David-Gunter
Son of Frida and Yosef, was born on September 11, 1919 in the city of Breslau, Germany. After arriving in the United States, he became a citizen of the country and served in the army. During the Second Aliyah period, when illegal immigrant ships tried to break the blockade on the shores of the country, he was among those who joined in fighting our war and volunteered in the illegal immigrant ships “Chaim Arlosoroff” and “Independence.” After several successful missions, In early May 1948, he arrived in Israel and visited Kibbutz Ramat David, where he joined the combat forces and served in the Yiftah Brigade, where he fell in battle in Mishmar Ha’emek on April 13, 1948. In 1958 it was determined that David was buried in an anonymous grave in the military cemetery in Afula. Following an investigation by the Unit for Locating Missing Persons in the IDF, in cooperation with the Unit for the Commemoration of the Soldier, held in 2011, it was determined that the deceased Joseph Kochan, who fell in those battles, was buried in this place and that the burial place of David Livingstone is unknown. In the garden of the missing persons whose burial place was unknown on Mount Herzl, a monument was placed in his memory. The place is a memorial for those whose burial place is unknown.
