Litvak, Moshe


Son of Yachne and Yitzhak. Was born on August 1, 1911 in the city of Kostopol, in the Volhynia district of Ukraine, to a family of wood merchants, and from his childhood he was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair movement and its activists, organizing parties, plays, choirs. After his training in Polsia, he immigrated to Israel in 1933 and since then his life was connected to the life of Kibbutz Negba. He was one of the first members of Kibbutz Negba, where he worked in carpentry and fodder. When the War of Independence broke out, he was a member of the local security committee and its activists. On the 26th of Kislev 5708 (6.12.1947) he went with a group of friends to search for two friends who were attacked on the way and did not return to the kibbutz. On the way back, the villagers of Beit ‘Aafa ambushed the group and broke into battle. In the exchange of fire, Moshe was hit in the chest and fell. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Negba. He left behind a wife and two children. The daughter who was born after his fall bears his name. Pages in his memory were dedicated in the book “The Hatred of the Storm”, in memory of the fallen of Negba.
