Litan, Gilad


Gilad, son of Elisheva and Yitzhak, was born on July 23, 1952 at Kibbutz Gesher Haziv, Gilad joined the IDF in late September 1971 and was assigned to the air force. He proved that he was able to persevere in a concentrated learning effort and managed to stand for many weeks in theoretical studies, which required concentration and thought. Finally Gili arrived at the patrol, where he also found an outlet for his travel instinct, which he could not find satisfactory in the air force. He enjoyed strengthening his body in the hard training and gained many friends because of his willingness to always help others and his devotion to the tasks assigned to him. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Gili was with the infantry forces on the Golan Heights, and on the 22nd of Tishrei 5734 (22.10.1973) he left with his unit to recapture the Hermon position that had fallen into the hands of the Syrians. Of the Syrians, Gilad was injured in this operation and died of his wounds at the age of twenty-one, and he was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Nahariya, leaving behind his parents and two sisters. : “On October 8, 1973, in the first battle on the Hermon, Haifa, Gilad Litan, of blessed memory, on the withdrawal of the force from the ridge.” When it became clear that one soldier was missing, After they encountered fire and did not find the soldier, they returned to the road On October 12, 1973, during a breakthrough in access to the outpost, Gilad Litan volunteered to be the first to check the road.
