Lisgursky, Gedaliah
Son of Fania and Shmuel, was born on February 7, 1929 in the city of Kishinev, Romania, and immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1934. On November 29, 1947, the day of the United Nations General Assembly resolution on the Partition Plan, Gedalia told his mother “No dancing now. We need to prepare and defend ourselves. ” He joined the fighters of the Yiftach Brigade and spent many days in positions serving as medic, without food and without water. When he heard that Ben of Shemen was under siege, he came up with the idea that the graduates of the youth village would come to the defense of the place. On the 27th of Adar II 5748 (7.4.1948), in an action to liberate Ein Zeitim, he told his father, among other things: “Do not worry, do not despair, there is no war without defeats, but the victory is ours.” His memory was recorded in the memorial book “Cedars that were Shorn.” On 27th of Elul, September 21, 1949 he was transferred to the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak.
