Lichterman, Eliyahu


Son of Feiga and Benjamin-Zvi was born on September 2, 1928 in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. His grandfathers-grandfather was chief rabbi of the grand community of Greater Warsaw. Eliyahu was educated on the Torah and studied in the “cheder” and “Yeshiva”. In 1938, the family immigrated to Israel and settled in Petach Tikvah, where Eliahu continued to study at the Petah Tikva yeshiva. In 1946, after his father’s death, Eliahu left his studies and went to work to support his mother, whom he loved very much, in order to repay her constant concern during his childhood. On 21.6.1948 he participated in a battle near Kfar Yona and was seriously injured, and was transferred to Beilinson Hospital for two months and suffered severe agony until he passed away on the 2nd of Av 5708 August 7, 1948. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
