Lichter, Abraham


Son of Sarah and Mordechai. He was born in the city of Sighet, Romania, where he studied at the local Gymnasium, where he was able to read many books in these languages. In 1935, he immigrated to Eretz Israel with his family, where he joined the “HaNoar HaOved” movement and joined the group of Hadas (near Gezer), which consisted of adults of the “Ben Shemen” and “Shfeya” youth villages. He underwent agricultural training and became a member of the kibbutz. He moved to Kibbutz Ramat Yohanan where he lived and worked and was a member of the gymnasium of “HaPoel.” When the outbreak of World War II, Avraham responded to the call of Yishuv institutions and enlisted in the British army. He served in Egypt and on 1 Shvat, January 19, 1942, Avraham fell in a road accident and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Heliopolis, Egypt. He was survived by parents, two sisters and three brothers. An investigation conducted in 2017 found that his resting place in Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt.
