Levy, Albert (Betty)


Son of-Orna and Leon, was born on 25.6.1936 in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1948. Albert attended the “HaTomer” elementary school in Acre and after completing his studies, Until he was trained in this profession, and was drafted into the IDF in mid-May 1954 and assigned to serve in the infantry brigade of the Golani Brigade. After basic training, he successfully completed a sniper course. His service was impeccable, and in his discharge certificate his behavior was noted as very good and his commanders admired him as a man of initiative and energy. In addition, he was awarded the Medal of Operation Kadesh. In mid-November 1956, Albert was discharged from regular service and assigned to the Haganah unit as an evacuation vehicle driver, continuing to work as an electrician until 1963. Afterward, Albert underwent a first aid course and served as a rescue vehicle and worked at the Magen David Adom station in Acre. Albert had a hobby of collecting stamps, and over the years he accumulated magnificent stamp collections, and during a certain period of his life Albert tried to become independent and opened a sports house, but he had to close it a few years later. He was accepted to work as a driver at the Mizra Hospital in Acre, and participated in the wars of Israel, the Sinai Campaign, the Six Day War, the War The War of Independence, the Yom Kippur War, and the Peace of the Galilee War On 23 November 1983, Corporal Albert was killed while serving in the Akko cemetery, leaving behind a wife, two sons and a daughter.
