Levinstein, Emanuel (“Mano”)


Son of Efraim and Ruth. He was born on November 9, 1947 in Kibbutz Dorot. The parents immigrated from the Czech Republic after pioneering training for years and were members of the kibbutz from the time they immigrated to Israel until 1960, when they moved to Be’er Sheva. Until the end of sixth grade, Emanuel studied at Kibbutz Dorot and studied seventh and eighth grade at the “Tze’elim” school in Be’er Sheva. Afterward, he continued to study at the Amal vocational school in the Negev, where he studied mechanics and was a member of the youth sports club in Be’er Sheva, played soccer in the municipal league of the youth team, Emmanuel was shy and humble and did not make demands for himself, was good-hearted and loved to help others before he left the army with dedication and responsibility in his profession, and was promised his job after his release. He loved the service and was proud of the uniform of the IDF, and he never spoke at home about his actions in the army because he believed that secrecy was the first thing that every soldier had to protect. Appreciate him for his dedicated work. In the middle of compulsory service, the Six-Day War broke out, and on the first day of its battles, on the 5th of Iyar 5727 (June 5, 1967), he fell in a battle that took place in Sheik Zweid in Sinai; He was buried in the military emergency cemetery in Bari, and was later transferred to an eternal rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. – condolences to the families, “he recalled.
