Levin, Lewis
During World War I he lived in London, England, where he volunteered for the Jewish Legion – the 39th Battalion of the King’s Rifles. Together with the battalion, he was sent to Eretz Israel in order to participate in the conquest by the Turks. He fought in front of Jericho and in the conquest of A-Salat. On the 26th of Adar 2, 28.3.1919, he fell while carrying out his duties. His name was commemorated in the Yizkor book of the Jabotinsky Institute and in the “Soldiers’ House” in Avihail. His resting place is in East Kent, United Kingdom.
