Levin, Katriel-Pesach


Son of Rachel and Jacob. He was born on March 26, 1910 in Jerusalem to a well-to-do family. In his city he grew up and received a traditional education, and over the years he also acquired a general education. When he grew up he did various jobs in Jerusalem and in 1933 moved to live in the Gan Yavneh settlement where he planted and processed an orchard of his parents. After the outbreak of the bloody riots in 1936, Katriel was one of the first volunteers to defend the Yishuv. During the Second World War he accepted the call of the National Institutions and enlisted in the British Army, the Royal Engineers Corps. On 9 Adar II, March 16, 1943, during his service in Egypt, he was killed in an accident and brought to eternal rest in the British military cemetery in Muaskar, near Ismailia. He left eight brothers and sisters, and his brother Shmuel was killed in the War of Independence.
