Leviberg, Uriel
Son of Rivka and Avraham, was born on the 10th of Kislev, November 30, 1930 in Jerusalem. He attended the “Tel-Nordoi” elementary school, and was a member of the “Mahanot Ha’olim” movement. At the age of sixteen he completed his studies at the “Shalva” Gymnasium, and went with his group for training in the framework of the Palmach, in Maoz Haim. Uriel used every opportunity to get to know the country. In the framework of the Palmach, he was sent to a paramedics course, and served as a paramedic in the “Haemek” Battalion of the “Yiftah” Brigade. His dedication and courage were revealed. On the 12th of Nissan, April 21, 1948, in the battle for Zar’in, in which his unit sustained a fatal firefight, he fulfilled his role, with his characteristic devotion and courage. After he had offered to help at the end of the fire-meter with his six wounded comrades, a bullet hit, and killed him. Together with his fallen comrades, he was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Afula.
