Levi, Yosef
Son of Golda and Yaakov, he was born on December 5, 1953 in Bystrica, Romania. Yosef acquired his education in Romania. For four years he worked as an electrical engineer in an electric wire factory in Romania. When he immigrated to Israel in 1981, he studied Hebrew at the Akiva Ulpan in Netanya and worked for one year in the electrical wires company in Haifa Bay. Yosef was drafted into the IDF in mid-May 1982. He was sent to complete his knowledge of Hebrew at the Military School for Education, and at the end of the course a party was held at the seashore. On the 11th of Av 5742 (July 30, 1982), Yosef fell during his service and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa. He left behind a mother in Romania. In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Despite the brief period we were with him, we always saw his smile, he was a true friend, he always brought a pleasant feeling to his surroundings.”
