Levi, Yitzhak


Son of Chaya and Eliahu, was born on the 23rd of Adar I, 1921 in the city of Salonika, Greece. In 1933, his wealthy and influential parents preferred to leave the Diaspora and immigrate to Israel even though they knew they would have to work hard in Israel. Yitzhak joined the Hagana and was active in it. At first he took part in the defense of Tel Aviv and enlisted in the Air Force. He served as a liaison officer between the Engineering Division of the Quartermaster Division and arranged for the organization of the aircraft operations and their equipment and arrangements for all the airfields in Israel. He fulfilled all the difficult and responsible roles entrusted to him with dedication and precision. Yitzhak died in a road accident on the 19th of Elul, September 19, 1948, on his way from Haifa to Tel Aviv. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. He left behind a wife. After he was killed, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel.
