During the First World War Levi volunteered for the Jewish Legion – the 38th Battalion of the King’s Rifles. With the battalion he arrived in Eretz Israel in order to participate in its conquest by the Turks. He fought in battles on the way to Nablus and in the Jordan Valley. At the end of the war, on 9 Nisan, March 28, 1920, he died in the course of his duties and was put to rest in the British military cemetery in Ramle, and left behind a wife in Cairo, Egypt.
