Levi, Shmuel


Son of Jacob and Rachel. He was born in 1946 in Meknes, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel from Morocco in 1952. He studied at the Habonim elementary school in Kiryat Bialik and was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement, In August 1963. His commander exemplified his courageous spirit, for he was not deterred by any difficult task. During the processing of Korazim lands, on the 16th of Adar 5765 (16 March 1965), he operated a tractor in the eastern wing of the plot near the Jordan River and close to the Syrian positions, even though he knew that in the past days a heavy fire right there; Indeed, this time, too, during his work shots were fired at him and the Syrian enemy’s fire fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. After that, the chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Yitzhak Rabin, noted the courage and devotion to the enemy.
