Levi, Shlomo

Shlomo, son of Rivkah and Yosef Levi, was born on July 9, 1929 in Jerusalem. He was trained in Ramat Rachel where he was arrested while searching for weapons by the British and brought to Rafah. Five months later he was released and joined the Irgun. Shlomo worked in book-binding. He participated in the bombing of a train near Binyamina and in an attack on the military camp in Pardes Hannah. During the War of Independence, Shlomo took part in an assault on the Manshiyeh neighborhood. He was a good sniper and a courageous fighter. When the bullets ran out, he began using grenades and forced the enemy to withdraw. After many battles, he served in the Givati ​​Brigade and fought in the southern front. In an attack on the Egyptian “Burma Road” strongholds, south of Iraq-Suiden, Shlomo took the role of deputy commander of the squad and was injured several times, but continued until he was seriously injured again. Shlomo fell, on the first day of Cheshvan 5709 (November 3, 1948). Shlomo was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kfar Varburg.
