Levi, Shimon
Son of Moshe and Sarah. He was born on October 10, 1929 in Tel Aviv. He studied and graduated with honors. Shimon joined the seafarers and later served as a naval instructor. In his civil profession he was a scribe. Shimon was a member of the Haganah in 1942 and was active in various illegal immigration operations. From the service in the Marine Department he was transferred to the service of the Hebrew Navy. After the establishment of the State of Israel he worked with the Navy and belonged to the Port Company. Shimon was among the conquerors of Haifa and the surrounding area. He also took part in landing operations in Lebanon for the purpose of detonating bridges. Shimon was, for his friends, an example of courage and lofty spirit. He died onthe 4th of Sivan, June 1, 1949, and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
