Levi (Segal), Moshe-Menachem


Moshe-Menachem, son of Tzili and Raphael-Shimon Levi, was born in 1924 in the resort town of Kudowa, Germany. In 1941 he came to Israel as part of the Youth Aliya and was accepted to the agricultural school in Mikvah Israel. In February 1948 he joined the army and took part in operations throughout the city and its suburbs. He participated in the battles of Sheikh Jarrah, Ramat Rahel, Katamon, Mount Zion and the Old City, and showed courage and self-sacrifice. On the third day of the first truce, on the holiday of Shavuot, on the 6th of Sivan 5708 (June 13, 1948), Moshe-Menachem fell when he took up his duties as a radio operator in Talpiot, and was brought to eternal rest in the Sanhedria cemetery in Jerusalem.
