Levi, Nissim

Son of Rachel and Yitzhak, was born on May 19, 1930 in Tel Aviv. After completing six classes at the Tel Aviv High School for Commerce, he began working in a printing press. Because he longed for kibbutz life, he joined the Hanoar Haoved movement and went to the hachshara in May 1947, first to Shfayim and then to the Sea Guard. His group moved to Givat Hashlosha, joined the Palmach, and left the Negev in December 1947. His unit was stationed at Yad Mordechai and a man with Nissim was very good at defending the spot. Nissim fell under the command of “Get out for the tanks with your personal weapon, the Fiat.” After the assault, he was lying in front of the enemy tank, where he was hit and put out of action and brought to rest in the Yad Mordechai cemetery.
