Levi, Nissim (Nico)


Son of Rachel and Shabtai, was born on February 11, 1930, in Sofia, Bulgaria. From childhood he was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair movement. On October 25, 1945, Nissim immigrated to Israel as part of the “Youth Aliyah” and spent his youth in Kibbutz Hazorea, where he completed his studies. During his stay in Hazorah, Nissim was a counselor in the movement’s base. While in the Gadna he excelled as an athlete and even achieved a national record in high jumps, and also played volleyball and other sports. In the War of Independence, Nissim fought in the ranks of the Yiftach Brigade, participated as a squad commander in the Battle of Kfar Kana, in Mishmar Ha’emek, where he fell in an attack on Za’on on the 12th of Nissan, (21.4.1948), and was brought to rest at the cemetery in Kfar Yehezkel.
