Levi, Nissim (Nicky)

Levi, Nissim (Nicky)

Son of Rahamim and Amalia. He was born on March 25, 1957 in Tel Aviv. Together with his family he moved to Jaffa where he studied at Yesodi and High School. As a child, his family lived in a dilapidated house, and the diseases landed on Nicky one by one. But the handsome baby overcame them all. In the neighborhood they called him ‘Nitzko.’ “No decision was made in his absence,” says Bina, his girlfriend. “Nitzko, who had every social event in his imagination, advocated the integrity of the girls in front of the boys, a player and an athlete whom every neighborhood kid aspired to imitate, who had the largest group of jolts in the neighborhood and the girls’ favorite, before whom he would demonstrate his athletic antics.” Already at a very young age, the child’s varied talents were discovered. He played well on the piano, had a natural acting talent – at school he played leading roles in plays, and before his friends he improvised imitations, watching him gaping. He was an outstanding football player, and in fact “Nicky was everything,” as his friends conclude. In the school he had earned the appreciation of his teachers, as a capable student, but never very diligent, he relied mainly on his wonderful memory and natural intelligence. “Nicky,” says his friend Doron, “liked to argue with the teachers, but it was not easy to convince him, but when he was convinced that the teacher was standing beside him, and if Nikki sat on this side of the barricade, With him. ” Nicky had a nice, smiling face-locker, he loved life and exhausted every minute of it. However, he also wrote melancholy songs. His personality was full of shades and contrasts. His mother was a friend to him, and he told her all his secrets. He used to play chess with his father, to talk to him for a long time, and to sum up the matter with “Papo, it’ll be all right.” For his beloved sister, Nicky was a handsome sergeant, and there was Zippy, his girlfriend who became part of the family. In mid-January 1976 Nissim was drafted into the IDF and volunteered for Nahal. During the course of his service, he underwent a parachuting course, infantry training course, infantry officer course, took part in Operation Litani and volunteered for permanent service. His service in the Nahal was one of the most Yaffa in his life, as his father says: It was the duration of field work, nature walks and homeland disputes, but Nikki found himself in his role as a guide – as an officer and as an officer. With his battalion, Nicky, as a sergeant, was among the first intruders of Lebanese territory in Operation Litani. “Nicky was a commander of our spirit, and this is what all the 3rd grade soldiers under his command will testify to: he always claimed that his goal was to turn us from soldiers to commanders in the best way possible, and he had no reason to be loved at the expense of this goal. And soon became popular with all of us. ” “Nicky, who was a great life-lover, was also a great idealist,” says his friend Aryeh. One day Nikki thought that crime in the city was rampant, and he had to do something about it. Indeed, he organized a group of people from the base to set up a special unit to join the police and fight the crime. He told me: “Someone has to do this job, and I want to do it.” Nicky wanted – but not enough. On the first day of Nisan 5739 (March 29, 1979), when Nikki noticed that one of his pupils was holding a grenade that did not explode, he quickly took the grenade from him and, while trying to save the life of the apprentice, fell. In the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, he was 22 years old when he fell, leaving behind his parents and sister, and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family.: “Lieutenant Nissim Levi served in my unit as a platoon commander and he fulfilled his duties in the best possible way, and all the soldiers in the department admired him, and he was loved by the base staff and all his commanders.” And his friends say to the unit: “In the heroic act he did to save the life of his apprentice, Nikki applied his entire world view – good education, integrity, devotion, a willingness to reach out to a friend. The family published a booklet in his memory, containing poems from his pen and the words of friends and relatives. In one of his poems, Nefesh, he writes: “A deep black night / the cattle are still far away / the leaves are rustling, the spirit / soul is not restless / threatened, the desire / grief / the night is like a razor / the soul station is dying / Her will / death The night of the last response / agitation, the pain / the life of my soul This morning is close, but a gentle night / no soul.
