Levi, Moshe
Moshe, son of Zarifa and Shlomo Levi, was born on the 12th of Tammuz (29.6.1928) in the Old City of Jerusalem (the first son after six daughters, and therefore especially dear to the family). At the beginning of March 1948 he was drafted into the service of the nation, and after training he participated in Operation Nachshon and in the bitter battles over the Castel and Tsuba. Upon the establishment of the state, he was transferred to another battalion and sent to the Sheikh Jarrah section of Jerusalem. On May 19, 1948, he was seriously wounded by a shell that hit his position during the most difficult attack on the Beit Yisrael neighborhood, and after a few hours he was buried in Sheikh Bader Aleph. On 28 Elul 5710 (10.9.1950), Moshe was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
