Not helped pleading his teachers and friends, he saw the place in Israel. Mordecai returned to Israel. His mother and brother remained in the United States, and he lived with his grandmother. Mordechai drafted into the IDF in late January 1983 and because its data is sent for pilot training. When it became clear to him that he was intended to be a helicopter pilot, not a fighter pilot as he had requested, Mordechai retired from the army and volunteered for combat engineering. On November 3, 1983, two weeks before the end of the course, Mordecai fell in the line of duty in the Peace for Galilee War and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Magdiel. After they fell, he was promoted to corporal. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander said that “Moti fulfilled his duties with devotion and loyalty and was very much loved by all of us”
