Levi, Israel


Israel, son of David and Simha Levi, was born on July 15, 1922 in Greece. During the Holocaust, his entire family perished in the death camps in Germany. David worked as a shoemaker before immigrating to Israel in 1949. He was drafted into the IDF in April 1950. Israel fell in battle at the Jordan River near the Sea of ​​Galilee on the 26th of Nissan in 1951 and was brought to rest at the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery. He left behind his expectant wife who gave birth to their daughter after his death. His daughter was named after him.
