Levi, Ilan


Ilan ben Haim and Yemima was born on the 19th of Adar, March 13, 1955 in Rehovot. As his sister attests, Ilan was a devoted and caring brother, a true friend. Ilan Was interested in the technical professions and his great dream was to be accepted to a pilot course as part of his military service. Ilan was drafted into the IDF in April 1973 and was appointed to the armored corps, and after basic training he was assigned to serve in the Sinai. Seeing the unfair treatment by the commanders, even if it was not to him, he was looked forward to his release from the IDF and dreamed of a healthy and diverse civilian life. On the 22nd of Adar March 24th,1976, Ilan fell while performing his duties in the south of the country. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and sister. The commander of the bereaved parents said: “In the last conversation Ilan had with the soldiers of the unit, he expressed his wish: ‘We must understand the soul of the soldier, his difficulties and his dilemmas.’
