Levi, Guy

Guy, the oldest child of Galia and Ran Levi, was born in 1993 in Netanya and when he was nine months old, the family moved to Kiryat Bialik. Reading was a significant part of his life and shaped his views. Guy was a boy of light and goodness, full of joy and laughter, yet serious and profound.
On March 18, 2012, he enlisted in the IDF and was assigned to serve as a combat soldier in the 7th Brigade of the Armored Corps, and at the beginning of his army service he tried to persuade all his friends to enlist in the Armored Corps. Guy completed a tank commander course and served as a team commander for about a year, and he gave his soldiers a sympathetic ear. There was an accident, something went wrong and a tank slipped off the carrier and turned over. Guy, who knew how to guard himself in dangerous situations, managed to get inside and hold the tank handle firmly. After the incident, his friends shouted in a panic and called out his name, while he crawled out of the back door of the tank unharmed and approached them quietly and calmly. At the start of the Tzuk Eitan operation in June 2014, rocket fire from the Gaza Strip increased and an operation began on 8 July 2014 with aerial bombardments. Guy was asked to enter Gaza with his friends and fight as a police officer. During the time he was outside the tank, mortar shells and antitank missiles were hurled at the force, apparently from one of the schools in the area. Guy rushed to reach out to his wounded comrades when another mortar shell fell, and Guy was hit in the chest by a large shrapnel from the bomb and died of his wounds. Guy fell in battle on 27 Tamuz, July 25, 2014. He was twenty years old when he died. He was buried in the Kfar Vradim cemetery and left his parents and a sister. “Mitzpei Guy” is located in one of the most hidden and magical corners in Kfar Vradim. The observatory was designed by Ruti Deutscher, the mother of Barak, a childhood friend of Guy, and was established with the cooperation of his parents and the local council.
