Levi, Eliyahu


Ben lulu and Maatuk Was born on September 6, 1927 in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, and immigrated to Israel in 1935 with his parents, who settled in Jerusalem and made a living by poverty and poverty, and was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement. Hanoar Haoved worked for him to work in the “HaMakasher” garage and gave him all his income to his parents, and he joined the group of friends who organized as a training program at Kibbutz Givat Haim. He completed a sabotage course and took part in British military operations against the French Vichy regime in Syria. Upon completing his duties, he rejoined his friends, who had meanwhile moved to Gvat. When his group moved to the agriculture, Hulata was among the most enthusiastic about the new place, especially the fishing profession. Took part in shooting operations aimed at resettling at a point confiscated by the British. After British forces attacked the masses of immigrants, Elijah struggled with them and suffered severe injuries throughout his body. Eliahu also participated in the struggle for the liberation of Kfar Giladi from an Israeli search for illegal immigrants. At the outbreak of the War of Independence, he demanded that they join him in active service and he was sent to serve as a professional terrorist, a role they played with dedication in the Jordan Valley during the most difficult period. During the mining of areas around Kibbutz Lehavot Habashan, a landmine exploded in his hands due to a breakdown in the mechanism. Eliyahu was brought to Kfar Giladi and died there on the 14th of Sivan 5708 (21.6.1948) and was buried in Hulata. Pages in his memory were dedicated to the booklet “Four Fallen” by Kibbutz Lehavot Habashan. On the 25th of Tevet 5713 (25.12.1952) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
