Levi, Doron-Zvi
Doron-Zvi (Oni), son of Rachel and Israel, was born in January 1952 in Rehovot, where he studied in his hometown in the Yavni’el Elementary School, and then continued his studies at the ” Ort. Doron was a diligent and disciplined student, meticulous in preparing his lessons and loved by his teachers and friends, and he read and wrote well, and his words about Chaim Weizmann were chosen to be read to the widow of the first president on the anniversary of his death. He was very sociable, easy to make friends, he was a sociable, hospitable and friendly person. He was always willing to help others, even if it was uncomfortable, he had a sense of humor, and sometimes he made jokes and pranks, everyone knew him as a true and honest speaker, an open man, honest and conscientious, and very sensitive to wrongdoings. Doron was drafted into the IDF in late October 1969 and volunteered to serve in the paratroop brigade, as part of the Nahal Brigade that was stationed at Gilgal. After basic training he took a parachuting course and a course for combat medics. He was a good soldier, responsible and dedicated to his job. He loved his commanders and friends as an example of his good temper, his demeanor, his obedience and his passivity. He was awarded the Operational Service Award for his part in operational activities. He tried not to worry his parents, and in the letters he made sure to write home, he did not say anything about the hard and arduous training, so as not to upset them. Two weeks before the Yom Kippur War broke out, Doron-Zvi married his girlfriend Daisy and was about to establish a home in Israel with her. He loved his family very much, was loyal and devoted to his parents and respected them greatly. When the war broke out Doron was drafted and sent with his unit to the front in Sinai, where he participated in the battles of containment and break-up against the Egyptians. On the 22nd of Tishrei 5734, on the holiday of Simchat Torah (18.10.1973), Doron fell in a battle near the Chinese Farm. In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “In his actions and his ability to persevere in a long war This served us, his friends, as a source of strength. Doron was loved by all of us, commanders and friends alike.” His unit published a book in memory of its fallen soldiers, and Doron among them.
