Levi, Bertold


Son of Julia and Arthur, was born on the 1 st of December 112 in the town of RuSon of, East Prussia, Germany. From his town he moved with his parents to Berlin, where he graduated with honors. At the age of 14, he joined the Hehalutz movement. He was in training and specialized in carpentry. In 1935 he immigrated with his wife to Israel and joined Kibbutz Givat Brenner and became one of the members responsible for the farm’s carpentry. Thanks to his professional talents, he helped to develop the carpentry workshop. He was also active in the cultural life of the kibbutz, played in his violin in the popular orchestra that was founded in Rehovot, and sometimes played in various plays in his farm. When the War of Independence broke out, he was recruited for action within the framework of the Givati ​​Brigade. He was a tour operator and served first aid. Berthold fell in battle near the village of Bashit, on the 19th of Adar 2, 5708 (March 30, 1948) during the retreat. He was laid to rest at the cemetery in Givat Brenner. He left behind a wife and three children.
