Lerman, Tamar

Tamar, daughter of Esther and Shimon Lerman, was born in Be’er Sheva in 1985. Tamar grew up in Omer, except for a two-year period she spent with her family in the United States, where they went on a sabbatical. She volunteered regularly for Magen David Adom. Tamar enlisted in the IDF in July 2003, and she chose to serve in an operational unit in the Israel Air Force. On the 26th of Tishrei (22.10.2003), Tamar Lerman was killed during her service in the squadron at the Ramat David base at the age of 18. She was buried in the military section of the cemetery in Omer and left behind her parents and two sisters. To commemorate Tamar’s memory, her family is working to establish a medical foundation, to establish an English library at the Omer Comprehensive High School and to establish an arts room in the new educational center at the Magen Avraham Synagogue in Omer. The commemoration activities were chosen to reflect Tamar’s path and principles in all matters relating to contribution to society. Tamar was loved by her family and friends. Her untimely death is an unbearable loss.
