Leos, Pathan
Daughter of Minerva and Talal. Was born on May 21, 1986 to a Christian family in the Galilee village of Meilia. Sister to Martin-the oldest brother, and Landa and Rina-the younger sisters. Faten was a quiet, intelligent, caring, ambitious girl. She began her studies at the Meiliya elementary school in the village and continued to the Ma’alot Tarshiha Comprehensive High School. She studied electronics and physics and graduated with honors. Faten was a girl full of joy and a constant smile on her face. She loved very much a connection with people and was able to forgive others. She had many hobbies: swimming, painting, recreation and meetings with friends, intense reading and love for animals. Faten’s father worked as a chemist, and so the family traveled extensively around the world. Faten saw the world, was exposed to different cultures and people and had many experiences – but was always excited to return to Israel, her home and her homeland. In her youth, Pathan dreamed of enlisting in the IDF and serving in the Navy, and on December 14, 2005 volunteered for the IDF and began basic training in “Camp 80”. At the end of the basic training she was placed, as requested, in the navy. Faten hoped to attend a paramedics course and was a candidate for the course, but eventually was stationed at the Navy base in Bat Galim, Haifa, where she served as the administrative clerk in the head office, where she was responsible for manpower and was praised by her commanders for her professional and dedicated service. With another challenge – to be an officer in the IDF. The way to the officer was not simple, but Patten did not give up and worked on all levels to reach the officers’ course. Her wish was fulfilled and in September 2006 she began the course. Faten knew very well that the road would not be easy and that she faced many difficulties and obstacles, but she was motivated to overcome and prove that she had the proper skills to serve as commander and officer. Thus, with a sense of satisfaction and pride, she continued the course with persistence and excellence. On December 25, 2006, a month before the end of the officers’ training course, Patten fell in the line of duty at the age of twenty. She was laid to rest in the village of Ma’ilya in a traditional religious ceremony. Survived by parents, brother and two sisters.
