Leor, Arnon

Leor, Arnon

Ben Ora and Uri. He was born on 17.4.1976 in Be’er Sheva. Son of old men, brother to twins Nili and Yonatan. When Arnon was two years old, the family moved to Omer, where he spent his childhood. Arnon attended the “Dafna” elementary school. After about 10 years of living in Omer, the family returned to Be’er Sheva and Arnon continued his elementary studies at the Ye’elim School and graduated from the Comprehensive High School in Cinema. During these years, he went with his family three times – each time a year – to the United States. Arnon was a boy with a rich imagination and a very special sense of humor, who excelled in pranks, to the chagrin of his teachers, cheerful and smiling. But, in fact, he was sensitive, introverted and deep, and had a highly developed self-awareness. Substantial problems of the value and significance of life were of great concern to him. He did not speak much, but when he spoke, his words were pointless. He had a great deal of wisdom, relative to his young age. Arnon was a watching man. People interested him and he was profoundly aware of them. He looked for the essence of things. Arnon was gifted with imitation, and was able to imitate people and animals in such a captivating way, which showed the understanding of the root of the existence of the imitators. For a few years he had been playing guitar, and even after he had stopped playing, his love for music had not faded. Arnon especially liked heavy rock music. Arnon had a special taste in music and movies and he could clearly explain the reasons for his preference for a movie or musical work, but above all he loved cars, he loved them as if they were living creatures, Including the spirit of the one who conceived, designed and created them.Arnon reached an almost complete level of knowledge and expertise in the technical details of the characteristics, structure and performance of each car of any kind. Despite all this, Arnon could not identify with any field And none of the areas in which he was engaged had the strength to attract him to engage in an exclusive interest in him, thus developing himself to be natural and free. His brother and sister, and especially his brother, used to spend many hours in conversations, hiking, and traveling, and Arnon was very motivated to serve in combat. However, near the end of basic training, he was given a profile due to a medical problem and he was placed, at his request, to the headquarters company. His comrades in the unit said that he was a quiet and introverted soldier and was very well functioning. There was a joy in life, and it was conspicuous in the communal activities. On the 4th of Adar 5758 (6.3.1995), Arnon fell in the line of duty and was buried at the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva, leaving behind his parents, sister Nili and brother Yonatan. Remember him at the corner of the Ilanot school library in Be’er Sheva, where his mother teaches.
