Leon, Shalom

Shalom was born on the 2nd of Av, July 19, 1928 in the city of Shumen, Bulgaria. When the War of Independence broke out he volunteered to serve in the Jerusalem Brigade. On February 12, 1948. British policemen surrounded the position and, with trickery, confiscated their weapons, and left Shalom and his comrades to face the Arabs with no weapons. The Arabs murdered them in cold blood. Shalom was brought to rest in the cemetery on the Mount of Olives.
