Lemberger, Abraham
Son of Necha and Dr. Shmuel, was born on October 9, 1928 in Vienna, the capital of Austria, studied in a Talmud Torah and completed four elementary school classes, and in 1939 immigrated with his parents After graduating from the “Moriah” school in Tel Aviv, he studied at the Kfar Sava Yeshiva, the Great Yeshiva in Petach Tikva, and finally at the “Beit Yosef Zvi” Yeshiva (named after Rabbi Dushinsky) in Jerusalem. He was a youth activist for Agudat Yisrael and published lists in the newspaper “She’arim”. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, he joined the army and fell in the heroism of Gush Etzion. Was wounded by enemy bullets on 4.5.1948 near Kfar Etzion and died the next day, on the 5th of Nissan 5708 (May 5, 1948). He was buried there. In one of his notes he wrote: “My place among the fighters is the War of Freedom, which never dies, although sometimes they go to other worlds.” On the 17th of Cheshvan 5710 (17.11.1949) he was transferred to the eternal military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
