Leibu, Yosef (Yossi)
Son of Berl and Sheina. He was born on March 21, 1947, in the city of Ar’ad, Romania, when the family was on their way to Eretz Israel, but this experience of aliyah did not succeed and the family remained in their hometown. But since he began to understand something he would have dreamed of immigrating to Israel, because during that period Yosef Yassuri was imprisoned, disappointed by another unsuccessful attempt to immigrate, but at the age of 17 in 1964 he finally reached the shores of the country with his family. It was not easy to absorb them in Israel, and yet Joseph saw joy in the complete redemption and his joy was boundless. In Jerusalem he continued his high school studies at the Gymnasium “Carmia” (11th grade), where he played the guitar and spent his free time in February 1966. In February 1966 he was drafted into the IDF and after a basic training course, He served as one of the company’s favorite commanders of the company, and for eight months served to the satisfaction of his commanders and subordinates and on the fifth day of the battles, he and his men joined one group and again to the other, Which took place on the Golan Heights in Tel el-Fakhr. But during the purification of a long section of a canal they found their death – and Joseph among them. He was buried in the military cemetery in Afula and was later transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
