Leibowitz, Yaakov (“Leibush”, “Yaki”)


Son of Leon and Rosa. Born in Romania on May 18, 1945, the family immigrated to Israel in 1950. When he reached the age of his entrance to school, he began to study at the Weizman elementary school in Nahariya and after graduating he studied at the local high school. Was drafted into the IDF in August 1963. After completing his regular service and reaching the rank of deputy, he went to reserve duty whenever called to reserve duty. This service was also during the Six-Day War. He fought valiantly – and on Sunday, June 9, 1967, he was the fifth day of the battles, fell in battle and was later transferred to the military cemetery in Nahariya, where he was promoted to lieutenant.
