Leibovitz, Daniel (Danny)

Daniel, son of Rivka and Yitzhak Leibovitz, a grandson of the family of founders of Zichron Yaakov, was born in 1929 in Givat Ada. When he was 14 and a half he joined the Palmach, introducing himself as an adult for two years for fear of not being accepted. He took part in the operations to break into the British camps and arms depots in the port of Jaffa, in Hadera and Pardes Hannah, where a large number of weapons were seized, with military and medical equipment. On 8 Nisan, April 17, 1948, he was one of the three Irgun soldiers who fell in an attack on the British Ammunition Regiment near Pardes Hannah. Daniel was brought to eternal rest with military honor in the military cemetery in Zichron Yaakov.
