Lefer, Yair


Son of Pnina and David, was born on October 14, 1930 in Hadera. From his childhood, he showed signs of independence and courage. He loved nature, the flora and fauna, and the expanses, and therefore could not adjust to school discipline and discipline. He also did not finish his studies at the vocational school in the name of Max Payne, since he was not inclined to pursue the profession he had completed. Upon leaving school, he went to Haifa and found his place and satisfaction in the Solel Boneh workshop where the armored cars and various weapons were prepared. When the battles broke out, he was drafted into the army and after a training period was sent to the north, where he participated in the bombing of bridges, the convoy to Yehiam, the defense of Lehavot Habashan, and the returnees of Zion and the operation near Tamara. The death of his friend depressed him very much and he became attached to the friend’s mother and would often come to her and comfort her. When the fierce battles began in the Negev, his entourage was enchanted by him, and Yair, who was accepted into the Palmach’s Negev Brigade, went down to the south after taking part in the defense of the Galilee and was sent to Tel- Aviv, where he was cured of his wounds, and upon his recovery he was led by armored vehicle to his home in Hadera, but on a disastrous road: the vehicle overturned and crushed him.
