Leenda, Bezalel (Tsalka)
Son of Sarah and Boris was born on the 28th of Iyar, 1929 in Rehovot. After completing his fifth year of high school, he moved to the Max Payne vocational school in Tel Aviv. From an early age he was a member and instructor of the Haganah in Rehovot. When he completed his studies, he joined the Nutras and later moved to the army. He served in the Givati Brigade, was a squad commander who loved his subordinates and took care of them during the fighting. His cordial attitude did not prevent him from performing his duties completely. In the battles and in reconnaissance and sabotage, he showed courage and ability to perform, and served as a platoon commander. On the night of 3/19/1949, his company conquered outposts that controlled Ramat Hakovesh. Early in the morning, the enemy launched a counterattack, but was repulsed. In this battle, the company commander was wounded, and Bezalel took command until he too was wounded. Died of his wounds on the 5th of Tevet 5709 (6.1.1949), was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rehovot.
