Lebowski, Julia


Daughter of Anna and Michael, was born on November 13, 1963, in the city of Moscow, capital of the Soviet Union. Julia began to study in an elementary school in her hometown, and immigrated to Israel with her family in 1976. She was an outstanding student and despite the difficulties of language and new life in Israel, she succeeded in her studies and even “jumped” two classes. In Israel, Julia studied at the Arad High School and graduated from the Katzir High School in the real world. Julia was an active member of a chess club in Rishon Letzion and participated in many competitions. She was very fond of animals, so she dreamed of practicing biology. During her military service, Julia began to study biology at the Open University. Yulia was drafted into the IDF in mid-March 1982, and after basic training, she was appointed as a post officer in one of the units, and she was quickly acclimatized to the full satisfaction of her commanders, who gave her the rank of corporal. On November 14, 1982, a day after she was nineteen years old, Corporal Yulia fell in her duties and was put to rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot She left behind her parents and two brothers in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, her commander wrote: “Julia served in our unit for only half a year, Tea is accepted by its members and we all felt great appreciation for it. Julia excelled in diligence, seriousness, devotion. Persistence in work, high quality of performance and striving for progress and self-expression. “The chess club in Rishon Letzion, where it was active, holds a chess competition every year among schoolchildren
