Lazarovitz (Ron) Amir
Amir, ben Aliza and Eugen of blessed memory, was born on the 10th of Nisan, April 16, 1951 in Tel Aviv. Amir was always willing to help others, was a model among his friends and was loved by everyone. Amir was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of February 1970 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, completed basic training for the Patton tank and the Patton tank commanders. After that, he took an officer’s course and a course for armored corps officers, was appointed tank training instructor and even took part in a sabotage course. He was an excellent officer, with great initiative and professional knowledge, admired by his commanders, subordinates, and comrades in arms. He served as an example to his soldiers in his good temperament, dedication and passivity, and was an address for all who needed good advice and assistance in any field.
At the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War, Amir joined the Armored Corps unit that fought on the Suez Canal front, and was assigned the position of commander of the tank division. On the 20th of Tishrai, October 16, 1973, his tank was hit west of the Canal, and he was brought to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery.
